TEHRAN, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran opened on Wednesday a permanent center for knowledge-based activities in Kenya, official IRNA news agency reported.

The opening of the Iranian House of Innovation and Technology was attended by Iranian and Kenyan officials in Nairobi, capital of Kenya, IRNA said.

Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Sourena Sattari said at the opening ceremony that under the current condition of the COVID-19 epidemic countries should share their experience to fight the problem.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Iranian government has supported knowledge-based enterprises to produce relevant equipment and medicine at international levels, Sattari added.

He also announced Iran's readiness to cooperate with Kenya in manufacturing, public health, construction of affordable houses, and food security to support the African country's long-term development.

According to the Iranian senior official, Iran's ranking in new technologies has improved over the past five years as the Islamic republic has made noticeable advances in nanotechnology, biotechnology, renewable energies, cognitive sciences, stem cells, IT and communications. Enditem
