KUNMING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The per capita disposable income of rural residents in poverty-stricken areas in southwest China's Yunnan Province grew by 9 percent, year on year, to 11,740 yuan (1,826.74 U.S. dollars) in 2020.

The rural residents' per capita wage income in 88 impoverished counties in Yunnan reached 3,994 yuan in 2020. It is an increase of 11.5 percent over the previous year, according to data released on Saturday by the Yunnan survey team of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The income growth can mainly be attributed to poverty eradication. According to the Yunnan survey team, it is the result of authorities balancing epidemic control with economic and social development.
