BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and none of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority's tricks can change that fact, a mainland spokesperson said Thursday.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks when commenting on the DPP authority's recent move of setting up a so-called "office" in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and hailing it as a "diplomatic breakthrough."

"We firmly oppose the Taiwan region establishing any official ties with, or setting up any official agency in countries that have diplomatic relations with us," Ma added.

He called on the Guyana side to adhere to the one-China principle and handle Taiwan-related issues properly.
