SANTIAGO, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chile's Health Ministry on Thursday reported 4,181 new COVID-19 infections and 137 more deaths, according to data collected in the last 24 hours, which brings the accumulated totals to 812,344 cases and 20,310 deaths.

Of the country's total caseload, 770,190 have recovered, while 21,383 remain active.

Minister of Health Enrique Paris said during the daily report that in the last seven days, eight regions in the South American country have seen their cases reduced, although "this doesn't mean that we are experiencing a significant change in the decline of cases, but rather that we are in a stabilization phase."

Chile has been facing a resurgence of COVID-19 infections since December, mainly in its northern and southern regions, which has coincided with the country's summer vacation season and the wave of COVID-19 cases has consequently increased the demand for hospitalization. Enditem
