GENEVA, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Belarus on Friday delivered a joint speech on behalf of 70 countries at the ongoing 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, emphasizing that Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs and should not be interfered by external forces.

"Non-interference in internal affairs of sovereign states is an important principle enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and a basic norm governing international relations. We support China's implementation of 'one country, two systems' in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region," the joint statement said.

"Since the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region came into force, Hong Kong has got rid of turbulence and gradually restored stability," it said.

"The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is an inalienable part of China, and Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs that brook no interference by any external forces," it added.

The joint statement urges the relevant sides to respect China's sovereignty and stop interfering in China's internal affairs, including those of Hong Kong. Enditem
