SANAA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- A ballistic missile fired by Houthi militia hit a building near a government military compound in Yemen's central city of Marib on Thursday, a local government security source told Xinhua.

This is the second missile attack in less than 24 hours on the same site in Rawda neighbourhood in northern Marib city, said the source on condition of anonymity.

There were no reports of casualties.

Meanwhile, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported 14 airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition warplanes, which back the Yemeni government forces, on several fronts in western Marib during the past 24 hours.

The Houthi group announced in Feb. wide offensive in bid to seize control over the oil-rich Marib, the last northern stronghold of the government.

Dozens of fighters from both sides have been killed since then, according to local media.

The United Nations is trying to push for a cease-fire and resume political negotiations between Yemeni warring parties.

Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthi rebels seized control of several northern Yemeni provinces and forced the internationally-recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa. Enditem
