SHANGHAI, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League (CSL) outfit Shanghai Shenhua announced the new signing of midfielder Wu Xi here on Thursday.

Born in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province in 1989, Wu joined Shanghai Shenhua at the age of 20. During the three seasons representing Shenhua, Wu scored six goals in his 86 appearances. In 2013, Wu was transferred to Jiangsu and led his team to win the CSL, Chinese FA Cup, and CFA Super Cup respectively in eight seasons.

In 2011, the 22-year-old Wu became a member of the Chinese national team. He made his debut in the second stage of World Cup qualifiers facing Laos and contributed an assist.

"I returned to where my career started in my 12th year in the CSL. I would like to express my gratitude to Shenhua for paying attention to me in the complicated context and helping me come back as an old acquaintance. I will try my best to create better results for the team," Wu wrote on his Weibo account.

Jiangsu FC, Wu's former club, announced the suspension of operations on February 28. Enditem
