BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Liaoning Hongyun players had been unpaid for two seasons when they played for the now-defunct club, its former captain Sang Yifei has revealed.

Sang, 32, said the Liaoning FC players had gone all out to help the club but received no salary in return.

"We tried our best on the field to help the club stay in the (second-tier) league. We understood that the club then met some financial difficulties," he said.

"But we worked for two seasons without being paid, until now we did not get the pay," he said. "We will seek it through legal channels."

Liaoning FC went bankrupt last season after they failed to pass the vetting of the Chinese Football Association.

Sang currently plays for Chinese second-tier club Wuhan Three Towns. Enditem
