BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia registered 169 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest daily increase, raising its national tally to 3,833, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Saturday.

The latest cases were detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, the country's hardest hit region, the NCCD said.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday 5,000 new COVID-19 infections, the highest daily tally in nearly seven months, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 616,611.

Saturday's tally is the highest daily rise since August 26 last year, when the DOH reported 5,277 cases.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,333,728 on Saturday as 24,882 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.
