TUNIS, March 13 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and one injured on Saturday in an asphalt tank explosion at a factory in southeastern Tunisia, reported Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
The factory, owned by the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT), is located in the industrial zone of Gabes province.
"The injured person was suffering from serious burn and quickly transferred to a hospital in Gabes for treatment," TAP quoted the regional director of civil protection in Gabes, Atef Houaij, as saying.
"Civil protection teams have succeeded in controlling the flames generated by the explosion, the cause of which is not yet known," Houaij added.
The GCT confirmed in a statement that all employees are safe. Enditem
