PHNOM PENH, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia confirmed 41 more local COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of infected people linked to the third community transmission to 792, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Of those new cases, 28 were found in southern Kandal province, 12 in capital Phnom Penh, and one in southeastern Prey Veng province, MoH secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in the statement.

They all had connections to the third community outbreak of COVID-19 on Feb. 20, she said, adding that the new patients were undergoing treatment at various designated COVID-19 hospitals.

In an effort to contain the virus, the country has closed all schools, sports facilities, museums, cinemas, and entertainment venues in cities and provinces, where the virus has been detected.

The kingdom has so far recorded a total of 1,305 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with one death and 647 recoveries, the statement said.

The Southeast Asian nation has launched a COVID-19 vaccination drive with China's Sinopharm vaccine since Feb. 10 and with Indian-made AstraZeneca vaccine since March 4. Enditem
