German shares gain 1.23 pct Thursday

FRANKFURT, March 18 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 178.91 points, or 1.23 percent, to close at 14,775.52 points.

Deutsche Bank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 4.89 percent. Automotive manufacturer Daimler and manufacturing and electronics company Siemens gained 4.21 percent and 3.68 percent respectively.

Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen, semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and energy group E.ON were the top three losers among the blue chips, falling 3.36 percent, 0.89 percent and 0.37 percent respectively.

Volkswagen was the most-traded share with a turnover of 1.30 billion euros (1.55 billion U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 1.71 percent to close at 1.950 euros per share on Thursday. Enditem
