BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.52 percent, at 3,398.99 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.42 percent lower at 13,680.27 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 660.7 billion yuan (about 101.18 billion U.S. dollars), up from 654 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the non-ferrous smelting and processing as well as COVID-19 detection sector saw strong performances, while those related to animal breeding and electric power led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.49 percent to close at 2,790.64 points. Enditem
