CAIRO, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit Thursday condemned the attack that struck a U.S.-led coalition base in Erbil airport, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan in northern Iraq.

In a statement, Aboul-Gheit said that the attack is a sabotage that targets weakening Iraq's prestige, security and stability.

Stressing that the stability of Kurdistan is part of the country's security, he called for standing against all attempts that seek to undermine the unity and sovereignty of Iraq.

The AL supports all the Iraqi government's efforts for fighting terrorism, controlling the weapons spread, imposing the law and preserving the security and stability of the country.

The Kurdish regional authorities said an explosion that occurred in Erbil International Airport on Wednesday was caused by a drone carrying TNT explosives. Enditem
