"This is the international airport in Australia's Sydney. Today(April 19th) marks the opening of a two-way safe travel zone between Australia and New Zealand, which will allow people meeting conditions to travel to and from the two countries without mandatory quarantine after arrival."

A one-way Safe Travel Zone from New Zealand to Australia was opened in last October, with more than 34,000 arrivals into Australia from New Zealand during that period.

As the new trans-Tasman travel bubble opened, the Australians will be able to touch down in other country to have an overseas holiday since the international border restrictions implemented last March.

"I am reporting from Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand South Island, two flights from Australia Sydney and Melbourne are due to arrive very soon. Today, the atmosphere at the airport is quite cheerful, some New Zealanders have come to meet and greet their arriving family members or friends at the airport. Many of them have not seen their families for more than a year."

Feels pretty good yes, good to be back. We waited about a year, so it is good to back and see.

The travel bubble is expected to bring a glimmer of hope for the struggling tourism sector.

The aviation industry also eyes a great opportunity.

From today(Starting from April 19th), Australia's national carriers Qantas and Jetstar will initially operate up to 122 return flights per week across the Tasman on 15 routes, offering more than 52,000 seats each week.

Qantas will also launch two new routes direct from Auckland to Cairns and the Gold Coast, providing travellers with more options for holidays.
