BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The National Museum of China unveiled a collection of ancient ceramics, produced and excavated in north China's Shanxi Province, in an exhibition that opened Thursday.

Co-organized by the national museum and Shanxi's cultural heritage authority, the exhibition includes over 150 pieces of ceramics crafted around the 12th century in today's Hejin City, which was a longtime porcelain hub since the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and enjoyed its heyday during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234).

As the result of an archaeological excavation in 2016, these ceramics bridged the gap in the region's porcelain-making history and provided rich information on the techniques, craft level and the entire industrial chain of porcelains during the Song and Jin dynasties, the national museum said.

Through multimedia technology, the exhibition also offers the audience a panoramic and immersive experience by simulating the scenes in ancient porcelain workshops, kilns and wells, it added. Enditem
