Yu Bing organizes cultural creative products on a shelf at M.I. Bookstore in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, April 22, 2021. For Harbin-based bookstore manager Yu Bing, the issue of concern has always been how to create an encouraging reading environment. Born and raised in Harbin, Yu is now a veteran with 10 years' experience in the bookselling trade. Yu says the biggest value of her profession is the creation of an effective platform for the sharing of good books -- "How to create an enticing layout that attracts potential customers? And how to pick from a myriad of books and present the best to readers?" This March, Yu began to work for M.I. Bookstore, the fourth in her manager career. Aside from conventional work such as checking the stock, changing the store layout, and deciding on derivative cultural creative products, Yu has also been sharing books on online video platforms. Her 200-some book recommendations have gained her over 110,000 followers. "The bookstore is a city's intellectual lighthouse," says Yu. "In no circumstances will I give up on my goal. And so do other bookstore managers who wish to serve and enlighten their readers." (Xinhua/Xie Jianfei)
