BUENOS AIRES, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Argentina on Saturday reported 16,502 COVID-19 infections and 231 more related deaths in a day, bringing the total caseload to 2,993,865 and death toll to 64,096, said the country's Health Ministry.
A total of 2,655,359 patients have recovered from the disease so far, while 274,410 cases remain active.
"It is very important that we try to minimize activities throughout the country, and that each activity we do, we do with extreme care, so that we can continue to see this decrease in the number of cases," said Carla Vizzotti, Argentina's health minister, on Saturday.
The government has extended social, preventive and mandatory distancing measures until May 21. Enditem
