ASUNCION, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The Copa Libertadores match between Junior Barranquilla and Fluminense has been shifted to Ecuador because of ongoing violence in Colombia, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) said on Wednesday.

Originally scheduled to be played in Barranquilla on Thursday, the clash will now take place in the Pacific port city of Guayaquil on the same day.

The Copa Sudamericana duel between Deportes Tolima and Emelec - which had been earmarked for the central-western Colombian city of Ibague on Thursday - was also moved because of security concerns. The match will now be held in Peruvian capital Lima on Friday.

"[The] rescheduling is due to the lack of guarantees by security authorities in the cities of Ibague and Barranquilla," read a CONMEBOL statement.

According to Colombia's ombudsman, at least 24 people have died in the past eight days in violent protests over proposed tax reforms.

Wednesday's rescheduling came a day after CONMEBOL shifted two other Copa Libertadores fixtures and one Copa Sudamericana match from Colombia to Paraguayan capital Asuncion. Enditem
