CAIRO, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit on Tuesday condemned the Israeli's airstrikes in the Gaza Strip that left 26 Palestinians killed, including nine children.

"The random and irresponsible attacks by the Israeli forces are conducted based on internal political criteria," Aboul-Gheit said in a statement.

He held Israel accountable for the ongoing dangerous escalations, noting that the Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the government tolerance with the anti-Arab extremists inflamed the conditions in the holy sites.

He called on the international society to immediately work on halting the Israeli aggression in Jerusalem, Gaza, and all the occupied Palestinian territories.

The pan-Arab body chairman stressed that the Israeli provocative moves have continued in a challenge against the Muslims sentiments across the world.

"The violence occurring in Jerusalem harms all Muslims ahead of their religious feast," he added. Enditem
