BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- A signed Chinese article urged certain U.S. politicians to face up to the United States' own problems, do more self-examination and rectification instead of using religious and human rights issues to interfere in other countries' internal affairs.

The article, released on Monday, hit back on a recent report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

The so-called commission, with its crooked and ill-intentioned nonsense about other countries' governance of religious affairs, is nothing but a handy tool crafted by a certain gang of U.S. politicians to interfere in other countries' internal affairs and satisfy their obsession for hegemony, it said.

The article said the USCIRF's so-called latest report, like its previous ones, groundlessly attacked China's freedom of religious belief and its governance of religious affairs, turning a blind eye to China's huge achievements in governing Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong.

China has made tremendous progress in human rights protection since the founding of the People's Republic of China, particularly since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, winning acclaim both at home and abroad, the article said.

By managing religious affairs in strict accordance with the law, and prudently handling the relations between human rights, religion and the rights to social and economic development and public health, China not only protects its citizens' freedom of religious belief, but also manages to motivate people with or without religious belief to jointly contribute to the country's development, the article said.

The article noted the deterioration of the economic and social development, state governance and human rights protection in the United States over the past few years, which led to the Americans feeling increasingly unhappy, insecure and unrewarded. Protests and riots broke out one after another, it added.

Social injustice, especially when it concerns non-white Americans, has become appalling in the United States, the article said, adding that at a time when the lives of Americans could not be saved from the onslaught of coronavirus, how could one talk about the protection of the Americans' religious freedom and human rights?

"China's governance of religious affairs is getting better while your problems are growing day by day," the article said, urging the U.S. politicians to work with people around the world to do more in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, solving social injustice and promoting the human rights cause.
