Iran reports 9,994 new COVID-19 cases, 2,875,858 in total

TEHRAN, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran reported on Thursday 9,994 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 2,875,858.

The pandemic has so far claimed 79,384 lives in Iran, up by 165 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education reported.

A total of 2,396,540 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 4,475 remain in intensive care units, according to the ministry.

By Thursday, 3,005,632 people have received coronavirus vaccines in the country, with 493,931 taking two doses.
