Sister of deceased Afghan female journalist dies of wounds in Kabul: local media

KABUL, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Sister of Mina Khairi, a news presenter of a local TV channel, has succumbed to critical injuries from a bomb attack, local media Ariana News TV reported on Sunday.

On Thursday, Mina Khairi, who worked in Ariana News TV, her mother and two other civilians were killed in a bomb attack targeting a public mini-bus in western Kabul. Hasina Khairi who died of wounds earlier on Sunday was together with her sister and mother aboard the mini-bus.

A total of 16 people were killed and 23 others wounded in a string of bomb attacks, hitting four public buses in western Kabul during last week.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Taliban militants denied involvement in the bombings.

More than 2,950 Afghan civilians were killed and over 5,540 others wounded due to fighting in the country last year, according to the country's independent human rights commission. Enditem
