BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.01 percent at 3,525.1 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.77 percent higher at 14,583.67 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.01 trillion yuan (about 156.93 billion U.S. dollars), up from 891.9 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares in the automobile sector led the gains, while shares related to coal saw losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.59 percent to close at 3,239.23 points Friday. Enditem
