TEHRAN, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Chaos took over train stations across Iran on Friday due to a disruption in the computer systems of the country's national railway company, and official local media pointed to a likely cyberattack.

Semi-official Fars News Agency described the level of disruption as "unprecedented" in the country, as hundreds of train journeys were delayed and even canceled, while ticket centers, and electronic freight and passenger services stopped working.

The website of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways company was also down and unreachable, the report said.

An image widely shared on social media showed an information panel in a train station with the message "long delays due to cyberattacks." Enditem
