China's Yunnan reports 8 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

KUNMING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Yunnan Province reported eight new locally transmitted COVID-19 confirmed cases and one asymptomatic carrier on Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday.

Seven of the eight local confirmed cases were registered in the city of Ruili while the remaining one was from Longchuan County under Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture that borders Myanmar. All the cases were identified in the mass nucleic acid testings.

The province's new local asymptomatic case was discovered in the nucleic acid testing of Longchuan County.

Yunnan also registered 41 imported confirmed cases on Monday. All the imported cases arrived in China between July 12 and 18 from Myanmar, and were tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday while under quarantine.

All the cases have been sent to designated hospitals for treatment.

By the end of Monday, there were 259 confirmed cases in hospitals in Yunnan, including 80 locally transmitted cases. There were also 27 asymptomatic cases, including two locally transmitted.
