Historical sites in east China's port city of Quanzhou won UNESCO World Cultural Heritage status on Sunday.

Located on narrow plains along the coastline of Fujian Province, Quanzhou was one of the world's largest ports along the historic Maritime Silk Road, particularly in ancient China's Song Dynasty (960-1279) and Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).

In ancient times, merchants gathered here.

Now, such exchanges between China and other countries continue.

Many foreigners choose to live and work in the city.

Among them are Paul Bradford Ott and his wife Kimberlie Nichol Ott.

The couple, from Seattle, the United States, has been living in Quanzhou for more than 10 years.

They say they are deeply attracted by the history and culture here.
