RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Renato Augusto scored on his Corinthians return as the Sao Paulo club secured a 3-1 home win over Ceara in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.

The hosts raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half-hour at Corinthians Arena courtesy of two Adson Soares goals in 13 minutes.

Playing his first match since rejoining Corinthians after a six-year spell with Beijing Guoan, Renato came off the bench on the hour and struck shortly after with a deft 20-yard chip into the top left corner.

Forward Rick Morais pulled a late goal back for the visitors with a long-range drive after being set up by Jael Vieira.

Corinthians now have 21 points from 16 matches, two points behind Ceara.

In Rio de Janeiro, forward Bruno Henrique and Brazil national teammate Everton Ribeiro scored either side of halftime to guide defending champions Flamengo to a 2-0 home win over Sport Recife.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Santos drew 1-1 at Fluminense, Cuiaba won 1-0 at home to Athletico Paranaense and Atletico Goianiense won 2-1 at Bahia. Enditem
