JAKARTA, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Health Ministry said on Monday that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose by 5,436 within one day to 4,079,267, with the death toll adding by 568 to 132,491.

During the past 24 hours, 19,398 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries from the pandemic in the Southeast Asian country to 3,743,716, according to the ministry.

On Monday, Indonesia received more ready-to-use doses and doses in bulk both of China's Sinovac vaccine, and more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

With the shipment, the country has received more than 217 million doses of vaccines from various producers.

To date, at least 35.31 million people in the country have received two shots of vaccines, and the number of those who have been injected with the first doses reached 62.29 million, the Health Ministry reported.

The Indonesian government is targeting to vaccinate about 208 million people.

"All of these clearly prove that the government continues to work hard to bring in COVID-19 vaccines to meet the national vaccination needs," Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said during a virtual press conference on Monday.

The senior minister also called on the public to contribute to the national vaccination program, and reminded them not to be choosy on which approved vaccine they want to be injected with.

Five vaccines used in the national vaccination program are Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax. Enditem
