WARSAW, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A spectacular jump of 139.5 meters gifted Norwegian Markus Lindvik an individual gold at the ski jumping FIS World Cup in Zakopane, Poland, on Sunday.
Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi led the classification with a jump of 136m after the first round, while Austrian Daniel Tschofenig was second with 2.8 points less. Lindvik sat third after landing on 135m.
The Norwegian showed a masterclass in the final round to jump 139.5m. It was enough to win the competition as Kobayashi didn't handle the pressure and jumped just 132m to take the fourth position.
Anze Lanisek stood the lowest podium, while Karl Geiger took the silver medal with 10 points less than Lindvik, who secured his fifth victory in the FIS World Cup competition.
For the hosts, Sunday's competition was seen as a big failure as just three Polish ski jumpers advanced into the final round. Piotr Zyla, who had the best result among the Poles, finished 17th.
Kobayashi leads in the overall FIS World Cup classification with 941 points ahead of Geiger (897 points) and Marius Lindvik who earned 743 points so far. ■
