Iran reports 3,653 new COVID-19 cases

TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Tuesday reported 3,653 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 6,227,849.

The pandemic also claimed 18 more lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll in Iran to 132,113, said the Iranian health ministry.

A total of 6,068,983 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 1,295 remained in intensive care units, according to the ministry.

By Tuesday, a total of 60,376,526 Iranians have received their first vaccine dose, 53,258,700 of whom having taken two jabs. Meanwhile, a total of 13,144,426 people in the country have received the third booster shot.
