TEHRAN, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Wednesday unveiled a new ballistic missile with a range of 1,450 km, Tasnim news agency reported.

The missile named Kheibar Shekan was unveiled as Iran is celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

It belongs to the third generation of long-range missiles owned by Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), the report said, adding that it can hit targets at the range of 1,450 km with remarkable agility and speed.

The missile uses solid fuel, and its design has caused its weight to be reduced by one third and its preparation and firing time to be lowered by one sixth compared to similar samples, it added.

According to Tasnim, this is an all-Iranian missile system, and has been designed and built by the scientists of the Aerospace Force of the IRGC.
