SINGAPORE, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 11,278 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 975,607.
Of the new cases, 1,516 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 9,762 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.
Among the PCR cases, 1,461 were local transmissions and 55 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 9,680 local transmissions and 82 imported cases.
A total of 1,238 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 36 cases in intensive care units.
Eleven more patients have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection, bringing the death toll to 1,170, the ministry said. ■
