TUNIS, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- A terrorist cell was dismantled in Kasserine province in western Tunisia, Tunisian Interior Ministry announced Wednesday.
Eight members, who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group, were arrested, the ministry said in a statement.
The cell was spying on the activities of certain politicians, businessmen and many security agents in Kasserine, and was planning to assassinate them, the statement said.
The arrested terrorists confirmed that they planned to kidnap two well-known businessmen for ransom.
Some members of the terrorist cell were involved in the attack at a security patrol in Kasserine on Nov. 29, 2018.
