Tunisia hosts 16th South-South cooperation conference

TUNIS, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Interim Minister of Health Sonia Ben Sheikh on Tuesday hosted an international conference in the capital Tunis to enhance experience on family planning and medical and psychological services to migrants.

The 16th International Ministerial Conference on South-South Cooperation on Population and Development, inaugurated by Ben Sheikh, also discussed developing national leadership that can facilitate youths and adolescents' access to sexual and reproductive health.

The two-day event was held at the initiative of the National Office of Family and Population, Partners in Population and Development and United Nations Population Fund.

Ben Sheikh said in a speech that Tunisia made progress in the fight against gender-based violence and the political and socio-economic rights of women.

Over 150 participants attended this event, including ministers of health, population, finance, planning and economic development as well as representatives of UN agencies and civil society.
