MAPUTO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- A total of 89 terrorists who attacked civilians and vandalize houses in several districts of Mozambique's northern province Cabo Delgado had been shot down by the country's Defense and Security Forces (FDS) in the past 72 hours, the national Radio Mozambique reported on Thursday.

Quoting the General Commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) Bernardino Rafael, the report said that 19 of the 89 terrorists were killed in an operation on Thursday.

"In this operation, six camps and 16 pots used for cooking were destroyed; 15 vehicles, 20 motorbikes and three tons of food products stolen from civilian citizens were seized," said the police commander was quoted as saying.

On Wednesday, the Interior Minister Amade Miquidade told parliament that the FDS will continue its operations in fighting the terrorists who create terror and displace the residents in the region.

"We are seeing an unfortunate situation. Our fellow citizens, old people, women and children are leaving their normal habitats seeking security," said Miquidade, providing information to the deputies. Enditem
