ALGIERS, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Saturday reported 256 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total infections to 101,913 and the death toll to 2,803, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
Meanwhile, 209 more patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 69,071.
The spokesperson of the Algerian Scientific Committee monitoring the spread of COVID-19, Djamel Fourar, said on Saturday that Algeria will receive the first batch of vaccines in the next few days.
