RABAT, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Tuesday reported 801 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of infections in the country since March 2 to 453,789.

The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Morocco increased to 427,351 after 1,345 new ones were added, Moroccan Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The death toll rose to 7,784 with 17 new fatalities added during the last 24 hours, while 1,045 people were treated in the intensive care units.

The COVID-19 fatality rate in Morocco stands at 1.7 percent while the recovery rate is 94.2 percent.

With fewer tests being done, the number of new COVID-19 cases declined in Morocco in the past days. Enditem
