Nigerian Army headquarters report fire incident, no casualty recorded

ABUJA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian Army on Tuesday reported a fire incident at its headquarters in the country's capital, Abuja, but no casualty was recorded.

A spokesman for the army told Xinhua that the inferno was caused by faulty electrical installations at the edifice.

"The electrical fault sparked a minor fire incident at the Army Headquarters Complex this morning," said Mohammed Yerima, the army spokesman. "It was as a result of a minor electrical fault in one of the offices."

The official said the fire was quickly put out by firefighters, although there is an ongoing renovation at the army headquarters involving electrical rework. Enditem
