ABUJA, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian army on Wednesday confirmed that troops in the northern state of Kaduna rescued five college students who were kidnapped last month in the state.

The five rescued victims were among 39 students of the College of Forestry Mechanization in Kaduna kidnapped in their school by unknown gunmen on March 11, said the military.

Mohammed Yerima, a spokesman for the army, told reporters in Abuja that the students were rescued by troops of the I Division of the Nigerian army during a recent operation.

"The rescued students are currently receiving medical attention in a military facility in Kaduna," Yerima said but did not give details on when they were rescued.

The Nigerian army vows not to rest on their oars until all kidnap victims are rescued and returned to their families. Enditem
