Algeria reports 203 new COVID-19 cases, 122,311 in total

ALGIERS, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Algeria on Saturday reported 203 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the North African country to 122,311.

The death toll from the virus rose to 3,261 after eight new fatalities were added, said the Algerian Ministry of Health in a statement.

Meanwhile, 141 more patients recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 85,249, the statement added.

In a meeting held on Friday, Algerian Interior Minister Kamel Beldjoud called on all provincial governors to mobilize all material and human resources to implement preventive measures against COVID-19, the official APS news agency reported on Saturday.

He stressed that vigilance needs to be enhanced to ensure that epidemiological investigations are constantly updated to control new outbreaks and rising trends in cases. Enditem
