Uganda's COVID-19 cases surpass 60,000

KAMPALA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's Ministry of Health said Saturday that the country's cumulative number of COVID-19 cases clocked the 60,250 mark after the country reported 1,735 new infections in the past 24 hours.

The statistics released by the Ministry of Health also indicated that 15 people had succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of deaths to 423.

And 400 recoveries were registered during the period, bringing the total recoveries to 48,160.

The total number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 has hit 777,805 people, according to the ministry.

The country remains in partial lockdowns as social gatherings and inter-district travel are prohibited. Enditem
