SUVA, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Vanuatu will soon work out a COVID-19 vaccination plan after its share of the coronavirus vaccine was approved last Friday by the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility which helps poor countries get vaccines.

According to a report by the South Pacific island's newspaper Vanuatu Daily Post on Tuesday, Ministry of Health Director General Russel Tamata said Vanuatu's vaccination drive will initially cover 20 percent of its population, giving priority to frontline workers and the most vulnerable people as recommended by the WHO, such as those aged 65 years and over as well as high-risk groups.

According to Tamata, the list of vaccine receivers in the island country is expected to come out in the coming weeks, and the vaccination drive is about to start in the middle of this year. Enditem
