Vietnam reports 9 new COVID-19 cases, 2,401 in total

HANOI, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam recorded nine new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, which are all local transmissions, bringing its total tally to 2,401, according to its Ministry of Health.

The new infections included eight cases detected in the northern Hai Duong province, the country's largest COVID-19 hotspot at the moment, and one in Hai Duong's neighboring Quang Ninh province. They are all contacts of previously confirmed patients.

As many as 1,717 patients have been given the all-clear, the ministry said, adding that nearly 107,700 people are being quarantined and monitored.

The latest wave of COVID-19 infections hit Vietnam on Jan. 28, with 809 community cases so far confirmed in 13 cities and provinces, according to the ministry. Enditem
