PHNOM PENH, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia confirmed 75 more local COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the total number of infected people linked to the third community transmission to 990, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Of the new cases, 50 were found in capital Phnom Penh, 22 in Kandal province, two in Prey Veng province and one in Takeo province, the statement said.

Cambodia has been enduring the third community COVID-19 outbreak since Feb. 20. In a bid to contain the virus, the country has closed down all schools, sports facilities, museums, cinemas, and entertainment venues in cities and provinces, where the virus has been found.

According to the MoH, since the start of the pandemic in January last year, the Southeast Asian nation has registered a total of 1,505 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with one death and 840 recoveries. Enditem
