India's environmental minister Prakash Javdekar tests positive for COVID-19

NEW DELHI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- India's federal environment, forest and climate change minister Prakash Javdekar Friday tested positive for COVID-19.

Javdekar took to social media announcing he has contracted the infection. The minister has requested all those who have come in contact with him in the last two to three days to get themselves tested.

"I have tested COVID-19 positive today. All those who have come in contact with me in the last two to three days may please get themselves tested," Javdekar said.

India is witnessing a resurgence in COVID-19 cases.

Federal health ministry on Friday morning said 217,353 new COVID-19 cases and 1,185 related deaths were registered in the past 24 hours across the country. Enditem
