Uzbekistan's daily COVID-19 cases hit record high since January

TASHKENT, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan registered 452 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, hitting a record high since the beginning of the year, the Uzbek Health Ministry said on Thursday.

The Central Asian nation has so far reported 93,176 cases, while the national COVID-19 death toll rose by two to 657.

More than 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been applied as part of the country's mass vaccination program, and 32,533 people have received the second dose, the ministry said. Enditem
