Cambodia logs 649 new COVID-19 cases, tally at 27,638

PHNOM PENH, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia on Thursday reported 649 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the national case tally to 27,638 so far, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

The new infections included 633 local cases and 16 imported ones, the MoH said.

The kingdom also confirmed four new fatalities, taking the overall death toll to 194, the statement said, adding that another 626 patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 20,398.

The Southeast Asian nation began an anti-COVID-19 inoculation drive on Feb. 10.

The MoH's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said that so far, some 2.36 million out of the 10-million target population have been vaccinated. Enditem
