JAKARTA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's consumer optimism in May on the economic conditions continued to grow, with the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rising to 104.4 from 101.5 in April.

The consumer confidence was observed to improve in most categories of expenditure level, education level, and age group of respondents, according to a report on the consumer survey conducted by the central bank, Bank Indonesia, available on Wednesday.

Specially, consumer confidence improved in the six cities surveyed, with the highest level in Medan of North Sumatra province, followed by Surabaya in East Java province and Manado in North Sulawesi province.

The consumer optimism in May was stoked by consumer perception of the current economic conditions, particularly in terms of job availability, incomes and conditions for buying durable goods.

The survey showed consumer expectations of the economic conditions would remain relatively stable in the future.

Meanwhile, expectations of job availability increased, while those of business activities and incomes were quite strong although lower than the level in the previous month. Enditem
