Jordan's Lower House approves amendments to constitution

AMMAN, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Lower House on Thursday approved more amendments to the kingdom's constitution, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Lower House Speaker Abdul Karim Dughmi said the house discussed with Jordan's various players for constitutional amendments before their approval, according to Petra.

The house has completed the first phase of Jordan's political modernization path by endorsing 30 constitutional amendments and will shortly begin to debate and endorse elections draft laws which will be a milestone in Jordan's modern history, Dughmi added.

On Thursday, the Lower House gave the green light to the establishment of a National Security and Foreign Policy Council.
